Yes. We specialise terracotta tiles and aged concrete tiles that get brittle over decades — the clay work-hardens, concrete tiles lose surface strength, and mortar bedding crumbles. A basic high pressure clean on an old roof-that you'd use on a 10-year-old modern tile roof and you'll crack tiles or erode them and dislodge bedding that's been holding since the house was built. We inspect tile condition first — checking for cracks, spalling, and how the ridge capping mortar is holding — before deciding on cleaning agents to eliminate the organic growth and spores, pressure, technique, and whether repairs or re-pointing is needed before any coating goes on. Heritage roofs get restored properly, not just blasted and painted over, the horrors of a cheap job that often ends in a costly roof replacement.What does a roof restoration actually cost in Sydney?
Anywhere from a few thousand dollars for a straightforward clean-and-coat on a small single-storey roof, up to well over ten thousand for a large double-storey roof needing extensive tile replacement, re-bedding, and re-pointing. Roof size, pitch, access difficulty, tile type, number of broken or cracked tiles, and the coating system all move the price. 15+ years with a properly applied system — Dulux AcraTex or IRC roof membrane, high build primer underneath, two full coats. The coating brand gets the credit, but the primer and surface prep do the real work. Skip the primer, rush the prep, or apply a single thin coat, and you'll see the coating fail in 3-5 years regardless of what's in the tin. We don't cut that corner.Does pressure washing crack or damage roof tiles?
Not when it's done correctly — and it's rarely the pressure washing itself that causes damage, it's incorrect technique. Too much pressure at close range on old, brittle terracotta will crack tiles. The wrong nozzle angle can lift or dislodge ridge capping. We adjust pressure, distance, and nozzle type to the specific tile — concrete tiles handle more pressure than aged terracotta, and we treat them differently rather than running one setting across the whole roof.What's the real difference between a roof clean and a full restoration?
A roof clean is surface-level — strip off the lichen, moss, algae, and mould sitting on top of the tiles, leave the roof looking better. That's it. A full restoration is structural work: re-bedding loose ridge capping, re-pointing cracked mortar joints, replacing broken or cracked tiles, applying a high build primer to seal and stabilise the surface, then two coats of a protective membrane system. A clean makes your roof look good for a year or two. A restoration protects the roof itself and extends its working life by over a decade.How long does a roof restoration job actually take?
2 to 5 days for most residential jobs. Size of the roof, number of tiles needing replacement, and how much ridge capping needs re-bedding all affect it. Weather matters too — coating systems need dry conditions to cure properly, so a job can run longer if rain moves in mid-project. We don't rush a coat on before it's ready to go on.Do you offer ongoing maintenance after the restoration's done?
Yes — and it matters, because a restored roof left unchecked for years will still develop the same problems eventually: gutters clog, downpipes block, small tile cracks go unnoticed until they're leaks.
